Why Choose Health Navigator, LLC

Our Mission

No one should have to face a difficult diagnosis or important surgery decision alone. Health Navigator helps remove the confusion, access challenges, and uncertainty so patients and families can make smarter healthcare decisions when it matters most.

Scott Boyden

Scott Boyden, Owner

Personal Navigation Experience: For more than a decade, I served as the primary navigator and advocate for my late wife throughout her battle with metastatic breast cancer. I coordinated care across physicians, hospitals, and clinical trials while helping evaluate complex treatment options and manage side effects.

Practical Experience: I am the son of a surgeon, have a BS in Biology from Bucknell University, and an MBA from the University of Utah.

Corporate Background: 15 years as a healthcare technology executive partnering with hospitals and physicians nationwide. I’ve worked inside the healthcare system—not just around it—and understand the friction points and incentives of providers, health systems, and patients.

Healthcare Navigator Early Adoption Results: During the first 18 months of Health Navigator, I developed Top Doc Reports across more than 20 medical specialties and helped clients nationwide navigate some of life’s most important healthcare decisions.

How We Are Different

Most healthcare navigators fall into two traditional categories:

Marketplace Navigators: Publicly funded resources designed mainly to help consumers understand health insurance options and basic enrollment.

Hospital or Oncology Navigators: Employees of a health system or specialty group who help coordinate appointments, paperwork, and care within that organization.

Neither model is designed to provide independent, data-driven guidance on whether you are seeing the right doctor for your diagnosis or procedure.

Health Navigator vs. Standard Navigation

Primary Goal Outcome optimization. System management.
Who They Work For 100% independent. We work for the patient and family—not a hospital, insurance company, or physician group. Often employed, funded, or directed by insurance networks, hospital groups, or public initiatives.
Physician Selection Objective, data-driven methodology to identify top surgeons and specialists for your specific diagnosis. They usually do not help determine which doctor is best for your diagnosis.
Second Opinions Encouraged and structurally supported through Top Doc Report™ and Top Doc Report+™. Often limited to providers within the same health system or referral network.
Clinical Roadmap Top Doc Report+™ explains the WHAT, HOW, and WHO behind your diagnosis, treatment options, and physician choices. Usually not provided.
Onsite Navigation Available in North Carolina through Onsite Navigation™ and Elite Navigation™. Usually limited to phone-based follow-up, scheduling, or administrative case management.
Multi-Specialty Support Supports complex cases across multiple specialties and care settings. Often limited to one specialty or one health system.
Clinical Trial Guidance Included for applicable diagnoses when clinical trial exploration is appropriate. Usually not provided.
